The main change is around regulation 421.1.7, which we believe will result in Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDD’s) being mandated in specific installations and recommended in others and as such will become more used to future-proof installations due to ever-evolving process, manufacturing processes and power demand within dwellings - cases such as the fire at Grenfell Tower highlights the risks when AFDD's are not installed and in-use.
Our range of Fortress devices have been extended with AFDD’s. Combined with our existing Surge Protection and A Type RCD and RCBO’s, everything a contractor needs to meet the new regulations has been covered. Additionally, all devices in the Fortress range are forward and backward compatible with our new and existing consumer units.?

AFDD's Combined RCBO Devices – Type A

AFDD's provide additional protection for prevention of fire from electrical arc faults.
Arc fault detection devices offer extremely effective protection against fires that are started by electrical faults. Typical causes include loose connections, damaged and crushed cables, rodent cable damage, and deteriorating insulation due to age of installation creating conditions where arc faults can be formed.
