The Hager VMES02SPD Type 2 Surge Protection Kit is specifically designed for use with Hager consumer units, providing reliable protection against transient overvoltages caused by lightning strikes or switching events. Developed for residential single-phase installations, this compact surge protection device (SPD) ensures optimal performance while helping installations comply with the requirements of BS 7671 18th Edition wiring regulations.
This IEC Type 2 / Class II SPD is compatible with all common UK earthing systems, including TN-C-S (PME), TN-S and TT. Its innovative single-module design saves valuable space inside the consumer unit, freeing up additional outgoing ways for future circuits such as EV chargers, solar PV systems or heat pumps.
The kit connects directly to the consumer unit via a 2-pole copper busbar linking the SPD to the supply side of the main incoming device. The earth conductor is terminated within the main earth bar in the consumer unit and connected to the SPD earth terminal, ensuring secure installation when tightened to the recommended torque of 3.6Nm.
