Fused Switch Consumer Units
A Fused Switch, or 'Switch Fuse', as some may call it; is a device used for safe isolation of consumer units, typically positioned more than 2-3 metres away from the incoming fuse position.
It controls the flow of electricity to an electrical circuit or appliance, typically found in industrial and commercial environments with substantial electrical power demands. Although these are becoming more common in domestic applications due to the increased demand for electricity over recent times.
The switch fuse aims to safeguard motors, cables, and other equipment from potential damage caused by short circuits or overloads. Combining the two provides enhanced protection against electrical faults:
- Switch: Enables manual control for circuit isolation during maintenance or in the event of a fault.
- Fuse: Functions as a device that protects a circuit when the current surpasses a predetermined limit, interrupting the power supply.
Most 100A Fused Switches these days offer 63A, 80A or 100A gG Fuses, some include all three. Also on offer are Time-Delayed RCD options such as the SF0100RA from FuseBox.
We offer an extensive range of fused switches from brands such as Hager, FuseBox, BG Electrical, Wylex and many more. A fully stocked range of Circuit Protection.
